This past winter was the best for outdoor enthusiasts, which I am one! I love winter. This is my third winter enjoying downhill skiing. My son and I started the ski season on November 30th. Not everyone shares this excitement, but I really enjoy the calm and serene beauty of nature during the winter. Riding up the chair lift with my teenage son allows us to connect and catch up with each other. He informs me of unusual facts such as, "ya know mom, you don't pay to ski = you pay to ride the chair lift!". A very smart young man. I never thougt of it that way. Skiing is free!
We got together with other family members on several occassions and made our way to the slopes. When we went to Greek Peak Ski Resort the mercury dropped to a tiny 3 degrees. Love that "under armour". I never was so bundled up in my life. I thought I would ski only half days, but we stayed warm and the ski slopes were not crowded at all. I put in 2 full days and really built up my ability, confidence, and speed!
I want to be ready to teach my grandson how to ski. He is 15 months old. I think I will be ready when he is. I watch with admiration how the small children glide down the slopes. Our family closes our ski season around St. Patricks Day which is celebrated at Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks. Three full days of skiing and a celebration on Saturday with a Corn Beef and Cabbage dinner. Yum Yum! Now its back to work. The gowns this year are coming in at a steady pace and they still radiate beautiful elegance.
