Family Weekend

This past weekend – Dec 12th and 13th – was family weekend. My family and my husband’s side of the family spent the weekend in Skaneateles NY. It was a beautiful weekend. The air was cool and crisp; the sun was bright. The people in the village were smiling and very pleasant.
Skaneateles celebrates this holiday season – this is the 16th year – by transforming the village into a Charles Dickens Christmas. It is a really neat and fun.
There is Christmas caroling, free cider, hot chocolate, and donuts. Mother goose and Father Christmas greet the children. There is a magic show and story time for the kids. The Di
ckens characters interact with residents and visitors while acting out scenes from a Christmas Carol on the village streets. It’s fun to see the Dickens character dressed in period costume and to hear the characters speak proper English.
When it was time to visit Father Christmas, my grandson Jaidyn became extremely shy. He would only get near Father Christmas if he could sit on his mommy’s lap. We all got a chuckle out of that!

Our family rented a house in the village. It was more personable and intimate than staying at a hotel. Saturday night we cooked a family dinner and then played Board games. A great way to spend time with family and have lots of fun.

Season of Giving
It's that time of year again. Most people I know get into the holiday spirit of giving. I think it's wonderful that people still think of others and try and help in anyway they can. Where ever you go there seems to be wonderful gestures to help others - banks, shopping centers, selected charities. I would like to mention Molly's Yoga Center. Molly's is sponsoring a family from the local Rochester area. Anyone visiting Molly's has the opportunity to participate. What a great way to support a family and allow many people to participate. I am contributing a % of sales of my châle's to the giving effort. It is my way of contributing this holiday season. I wish you, your family, friends, and loved one's all the best this holiday season.

Jingle Bell Run
Hi Everyone,
Another run! I am running with my friend in the Jingle Bell run for Arthritis. This is a national event sponsored by Arthritis Foundation. It is a festive way to start off the holidays and a way to support a good cause. The race starts at 9:00am 12 Corners Middle School in Brighton. To date, donations total $25,000. That’s awesome. I hope you will join me in spirit as I run for the Arthritis Foundation.

Webster Turkey Trot
.jpg)
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I did! I love the holiday and spending it with family. On Thanksgiving morning, my daughter and I ran in the Webster Turkey Trot. The race was either a 2.5mile or 4.4 mile course. Jenna and I ran the 2.5 mile. It was a beautiful day for a run. The Webster Turkey Trot is sponsored by Fleet Feet, on Monroe Ave. This was the 37th year for this race.
After the race, it was turkey time! I am so grateful to have time to spend with my family. I know that this can be a hectic time of year, but it is also a great time of year. Thanksgiving starts the holiday season. And, I love the holiday season.
I want to remind any of my former clients, that if you want to get on my mailing list for future events, please email me your address information. Emails can be sent to jill@jillbatesfashion.com.
