Gems of the Finger Lakes

Another busy weekend! My husband and I took some time to travel and visit quaint towns in the Finger Lakes region.

First stop was Skaneateles, NY. It is a beautiful town south east of Rochester NY. The name Skaneateles is an Iroquois word meaning long lake. The town sits on the north end of Skaneateles Lake – 16 miles long and one of the cleanest in the country. . The downtown district is historical, with buildings dating back to 1796. There are many quaint shops, restaurants, and bed & breakfasts. I had a great time browsing and shopping. I also took some time to do some running while in Skaneateles. It felt good to keep up my exercise routine. On a leisurely stroll, I came across a neat café, with an excellent cappuccino. The café reminded me of Italy.

After Skaneateles my husband and I headed to Hammondsport, Penn Yan and Watkins Glen. We stayed at a lovely rustic lodge on the water of Keuka Lake. It was great to sit outside near the water, taking in the ambience while enjoying wine and cheese. I even had the courage to take a dip in the lake – or maybe it was too much wine. What ever, I had a great time!

While touring these quaint towns I decided to test market my Châle (scarves). I did several cold calls at various boutiques. To my pleasant surprise, most of the shop owners I spoke with loved my Châle (scarves) and bought them outright!

When you visit the Finger Lakes region, stop in to these shops. The business owners were wonderful to work with! And, I believe in supporting local businesses. It is great for the community and the local economy.

Cheers for now……….Jill
