Tree and Cookies

I love this time of year because I have time. It starts just before Thanksgiving and goes until the beginning of January. The first week end in December found me, my son, and my husband picking out our tree. My son always picks "Charlie Brown's" Christmas Tree. (small) But this year he picked one that was tall. We donned it with tons of lights, ornaments, and tinsel. We always get a laugh out of some of our old tried and true ornaments. Our favorite and oldest is a green santa made out of yarn. My youngest sister gave it to us right after we were married. At the time it was one of a handful of ornaments. Our "Green Santa" has always been treasured and to show him off, his spot is of course at the top of our tree. Our children don't get it, but to my husband and myself it represents Christmas which is: fun and funny times, good friends and family, lots of sentimental treasures.

This past week end I found myself Christmas shopping in the grocery store with my son. We were buying ingredients for cookies. Like about 300 cookies. The cut outs that need frosting and sprinkles. He decided he was going to give cookies for Christmas Gifts to all his family. Grandmothers, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins. Sooooo shop we did. Then he started baking. And bake he did!!! The cookies were mounting up and so my husband and I pitched in. We frosted and bake and embellished cookies for hours. We let them dry over night. Thankfully my son had a snow day so he could pack up all the cookies on Monday morning. They are all set to deliver, and they are delicious. I only was allowed to eat the broken ones! I don't think I ever saw such a big batch of cookies in my life. I know it will be the favorite gift received.
